This past April, OKGN Co had the distinct honour of being invited to document a truly transformative event—Coyote Brings The Food at Thompson Rivers University through photography. Our very own Beth Taylor was privileged to photograph this gathering. This was not just an event but an experience that deeply resonated with all attendees.
Indigenous Leadership, Food Sovereignty
Coyote Brings The Food was a profound celebration of Indigenous women’s leadership in food sovereignty and climate resilience. It was hosted in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. It was a call to action, asking each of us to engage, learn, and be empowered by the incredible strength of Indigenous voices.
Beth shares, “I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of something so meaningful. It was more than just photography—it was about capturing the essence of a movement that’s reshaping the future.”
The event brought together Global Indigenous Knowledge Makers, Indigenous elders, faculty, alums, and students to engage in powerful dialogue. It was an opportunity to learn from one another, inspire collective action, and celebrate the enduring resilience of Indigenous women.
Documenting the Spirit Indigenous Knowledge Makers Through Photography
At OKGN Co, we aim to do more than document events—we strive to encapsulate the spirit and emotion behind them. We seek out moments of authenticity and joy, capturing not just what happens but what it feels like to be there.
Coyote Brings The Food was no ordinary event. It was a powerful celebration of unity, learning, and shared responsibility. The inspiring conversations on the environment and sustainability have left a profound impact on us, igniting a fire of motivation to continue amplifying Indigenous leadership in our work.
